National Hero Brigadier Samuel Mpabanga Laid to Rest

Zimbabwe has laid National Hero Brigadier Samuel Mpabanga to rest at the National Heroes Acre, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa describing him as a courageous and disciplined liberation war veteran whose service to the country will not be forgotten.
Speaking at the burial ceremony today, President Emmerson Mnangagwa described Mpabanga as “a true patriot whose contributions will never be forgotten” and praised his service to the army, noting his courage, integrity, and dedication.“Mpabanga served in the military with diligence and utmost professionalism.
He never sought preference or special recognition and remained loyal to his country until his passing,” the President said, handing over the national flag to Mrs. Sethekele Mpabanga in a gesture of honour.
President Mnangagwa expressed his condolences to Mpabanga’s family, saying, “We mourn a gallant son of Zimbabwe… The nation mourns with you over this great loss.”The President called on Zimbabweans, particularly the youth, to draw inspiration from the country’s liberation history and heritage. He emphasised that national unity, peace, and social cohesion must remain protected at all times.
“Mpabanga fought a good fight, ran a good race, and served his motherland. Famba zvakanaka mwana wevhu, zorora murugare gamba redu,” President Mnangagwa concluded.
The President also highlighted ongoing national projects in infrastructure and water accessibility in Matabeleland South Province, noting that Mpabanga passed away at a time when preparations for Independence celebrations in his home province were underway.
