Hardrock FC missed the chance to go top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after a 2-2 draw against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday.

The newcomers fought back twice, with Munyaradzi Diro and Washington Navaya scoring to secure a point in a tightly contested encounter.

Ngezi opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Malvin Gaki, who finished from a Tinotenda Murasiranwa cutback to give the hosts a 1-0 halftime lead.

Hardrock equalised in the 58th minute through Diro, but Ngezi restored their advantage ten minutes later when Ashwin Karengesha scored after a setup by Tinotenda Ditima.

Navaya, last season’s Player of the Season and Golden Boot winner, struck in the 82nd minute to level the match at 2-2.
The result leaves Hardrock just short of a crucial win needed to move to the top of the standings.

Meanwhile, Caps United strengthened their position at the summit with a 1-0 win over TelOne at Rufaro Stadium, opening a three-point lead.
