The Ministry of Health and Child Care, in partnership with the Zimbabwe Confederation of Midwives (ZICOM) and development partners, has launched the ePartograph, a digital labour-monitoring tool designed to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.

The tablet-based application was demonstrated during International Day of the Midwife commemorations held at United Bulawayo Hospitals on Friday.

The tool replaces traditional paper-based monitoring charts and provides real-time alerts to help midwives detect and respond to complications during labour.

Health officials, midwifery leaders and development partners expressed support for the technology, saying it has the potential to strengthen maternal healthcare services and reduce preventable deaths.

The commemorations also featured an awareness march, a live demonstration of the ePartograph and recognition of outstanding frontline midwives.
