President Mnangagwa Commends ZDF for Upholding National Values and Sovereignty

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commended the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) for remaining a true embodiment of the aspirations, values and ideals of the nation since Independence in 1980.
Speaking at the 46th Defence Forces Day commemorations today, the President said the men and women of the ZDF continue to uphold the legacy of the liberation struggle by demonstrating the1 courage, discipline and principles of those who fought for Zimbabwe’s independence.
He said Government remains committed to strengthening Zimbabwe’s defenceq capabilities through strategic international partnerships, modernisation and the integration of science, technology and innovation into military operations.
President Mnangagwa also reaffirmed the need for a professional, disciplined and loyal officer corps capable of responding effectively to emerging security threats and the demands of modern warfare.
He noted that Zimbabwe’s participation in international peacekeeping missions remains an important contribution to regional and global peace and stability.
The President said Government is accelerating the modernisation and re-equipping of the country’s defence systems to ensure that the ZDF remains fully equipped to fulfil its constitutional mandate of safeguarding Zimbabwe’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
