Speaking to Skyz Metro FM the Minister of State Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matebeleland North Richard Moyo said the hospital is close to completion with close supervision from the Second Republic.

He said, “the hospital will lighten the weight on privately owned Roman Catholic Church St Lukes Hospital as well as Mpilo Central hospital in Bulawayo which is used as a referal hospital when patients from Matebeleland North are supposed to be admitted.”

“The Lupane Provincial Hospital will also train health specialists at that institution in line with the ongoing restructuring of the Ministry of Health and Child Care, a process that will result in the availing of quality health services locally,” Moyo added.

Lupane hospital is one of the massive projects in Mat North alongside Lake Gwayi Shangani dam and Hwange 7 and 8 projects with power Unit 7 in Hwange said to be already complete.

The building of the hospital is among the visible developments that Government has undertaken to upgrade marginalised areas, under the mantra of leaving no one and no place behind as the country moves towards the achievement of an upper-middle income economy by 2030.
