Representatives of people with disability community have called for equal treatment and access to health services in health institutions for persons with (PWDs).

This came at the World Aids Day commemorations which were held yesterday at eNjube.

People With Disabilities (PWDs) representative Ethel Ncube spoke of the importance of people living with disabilities getting access to sexual reproductive health care services which is a great challenge for the disabled community in various health institutions.

Ncube added that people living with disabilities are not always treated in the most respectful way at clinics when members of the community need assistance.

“To clinics, we are not being recognized and we ask that the clinical staff be taught inclusive communication,” Ncube said.

Ncube concluded her speech by emphasizing the need for clinic workers to be trained to speak in a manner that is more socially inclusive of people living with disabilities.

“The socoiety should be educated on ways of communication with those who are socially excluded and living with disability”, Ncube said.
