Two men from Emganwini surburbs in Bulawayo were today arrested by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for stock theft.

Edmore Bhibhi (56) and Farai Phambukani (28) were intercepted today morning around Esigodini in Lualing area with a herd of 19 cattle in their truck in which they failed to produce legal papers for transporting the herd.

ZRP Bulawayo province, Inspector Abedinico Ncube confirmed that the pair were apprehended following a tipoff from Insiza district foreman, which led to Phambukani and Bhibhi’s arrest.

“We would like to appreciate the role played by the informant in alerting the police about an unidentified truck that was spotted in Insiza district carrying cattle before it was seen fleeing the area heading for Bulawayo where it was intercepted, searched and the accused were found without any legal papers suggesting that they should be transporting the herd” said Inspector Ncube

Of the 19 cattle that were apprehended, 13 were said to be cows, and the other 6 were oxen, with 2 reported to have already died.

ZRP has continued to urge the public to report acts of crimes as soon as they take place with the police force aiming to reduce crime around the city and the region as a whole.
