Goat thief found sleeping in the pen

A 32 year old man, Sipho Moyo from Pumula East, Bulawayo was arrested for attempting to steal goats.

Moyo appeared before Inyathi Magistrates’ Court facing attempted stock theft charges. The court heard that on the 8th of March 2024 the complainant’s herd boy went to release goats from the pen.

The herd boy then found the accused person sleeping inside the pen. Moyo was then apprehended by villagers and a search was conducted leading to the recovery of two knives.

After investigations by the villagers, Moyo implicated his friend who is still at large. The friend had left him sleeping. A report was made to the Police leading to the accused person’s arrest.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment of which 6 months were suspended and will serve 6 months effectively.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe would like to assure members of the public that security of their wealth and property remains a priority regardless of the property’s value, the individual’s geographic location or social status.
