The Supreme Court has upheld the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority’s (ZIMRA) stance that Delta Beverage must pay its taxes in foreign currency.

Delta had appealed to the court to overturn ZIMRA’s decision, arguing that it was unlawful to reject payment in local currency.

However, the court sided with ZIMRA’s argument that since Delta generates interest in foreign currency, it should pay its taxes in the same currency.

The ruling sets a precedent for businesses operating in Zimbabwe, clarifying the tax payment requirements for companies that deal in foreign currency.
