Govt gives update on SADC Summit Preparations

The government has announced substantial progress in preparations for the upcoming 44th SADC summit, scheduled to take place in the country.

During a recent Cabinet briefing, Vice President General (RTD) Dr. CGDN Chiwenga reported significant advancements in infrastructure development and rehabilitation projects aimed at ensuring a successful summit.

The preparations include the rehabilitation of three main access roads leading to the new parliament building in Mt. Hampden, as well as the upgrading of 37 roads in the greater Harare area.

Additionally, the construction of the Museum of African Liberation is underway, and rehabilitation works at the State Pavilion at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport are expected to be completed by July 30, 2024.

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to hosting a successful summit, which will bring together regional leaders to discuss key issues affecting SADC member states.
