Taurai Prosper Vanhuvaone, accused of posing as a doctor, was denied bail this morning by Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa. The court ruled against Vanhuvaone after the public prosecutor argued that he posed a flight risk and a danger to society.

Mpofu’s defence referenced a 2019 case, State vs Bongani and Others, contending that police assumptions should not be grounds for denying bail. He also cited personal reasons, stating his need to care for his chronically ill mother and grandmother.

Despite these arguments, the court upheld the decision to keep Mpofu in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for 23 September.
