The Zimbabwean government has been urged to fast-track the enactment of the new land tenure policy, considered pivotal for achieving the country’s Vision 2030 goals.

The recently concluded 21st ZANU PF People’s National Conference highlighted the potential developmental impact this policy could have on the lives of indigenous black farmers by granting them secure ownership of their land and access to bank loans.

With this policy, landholders would gain formal ownership rights, allowing them to approach banks for financial assistance to expand their operations. This financial empowerment could lead to a substantial increase in cultivated land, driving sustainable economic growth within the agricultural sector.

The conference emphasized that broader land cultivation under the new policy would boost Zimbabwe’s agricultural output, improve the standard of living, and increase the nation’s GDP.

Further stressing that the policy addresses the historical significance of land ownership, a key issue in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.

The conference’s recommendations reinforce the urgency of enacting this policy to honor Zimbabwe’s past while setting the foundation for a prosperous future aligned with Vision 2030.
