Nomvula Mafu, a finalist in the Mr. and Miss Rural Zimbabwe Matebeleland South pageant, shared that her passion for fashion and beauty drove her to pursue the competition. Her love for clothing sparked an interest in beauty pageants, ultimately leading her to vie for the Miss Rural Zim title.

In an interview with Skyz Metro FM, the current Miss Mat South discussed the roots of her ambition to compete.

“Growing up my mother used like traditional dance, makeup, photography and she liked dressing me up like a doll and that inspired me to love fashion trends and that has pushed me to partake in the pageant” she said.

Nomvula also appealed to the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts, and Recreation, calling for their support of the initiative.

“We kindly ask the Ministry of Youth, Sports Arts and Recreation to assist us with the funding because we are currently facing a lot challenges which are hindering the progress of the pageant” said Miss Rural Zim Matebeleland South finalist

Nanziwe Nyoni, the Administration Assistant for the pageant, urged other rural youth interested in participating to reach out at 0773548098.

“So far we have covered Matebeleland South in Avoca for Mr and Miss Rural Zimbabwe, we are now looking to go to Matebeleland North. We are calling on all young people who wish to partake to reach out to us” said Nyoni.

The Mr. and Miss Rural Zimbabwe pageant provides a platform for rural youth to showcase their talents, promoting personal growth among disadvantaged children.

The event, already held in Matabeleland South, is planned to extend to all provinces before a grand finale later this year, where the King and Queen will be crowned.
