The Zimbabwe Centre for Media and Information Literacy (ZCMIL) has announced that the 6th Africa Journalism and Media Summit will be held in Harare from 14 to 15 November 2024, running under the theme “Reinventing Local Journalism in the Age of Disruption.”

This summit will gather journalists, media academics, nonprofit leaders, business figures, and government representatives to discuss strategies for strengthening community-centered journalism amid digital challenges.

This year’s summit will address issues like rebuilding public trust, expanding outreach to diverse communities, and establishing sustainable business models for media. It will also explore ways journalists are building resilience on the front lines. Sessions include keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, all aimed at fostering partnerships and charting sustainable paths for journalism in Zimbabwe and across Africa.

Following last year’s focus on artificial intelligence, the 2024 summit will explore how emerging technologies can empower local journalists. ZCMIL continues its work to support a vibrant journalism landscape in Zimbabwe and Africa through training and grassroots initiatives.
