4th Pan African Parliament Session Commences in South Africa, Focuses on 21st Century Education for Africa

The 4th ordinary session of the 6th Pan African Parliament (PAP) commenced yesterday in Midrand, South Africa, focusing on the theme “Educate an Africa Fit for the 21st Century.”

The gathering began with the swearing-in of new members from Rwanda and other participating countries. PAP President Chief Fortune Charumbira presided over the opening ceremony, highlighting the need to appoint a vice president, as the position was vacant.

The session, which runs upto the 15th of November, started with a strategic planning workshop aimed at strengthening intra-African relations and addressing pressing issues across the continent. The PAP’s permanent committee is set to meet tomorrow, with plenary sessions continuing throughout the event’s duration.

As the legislative arm of the African Union, the Pan African Parliament plays a vital role in promoting political and economic stability in Africa by reviewing and harmonizing laws. During this assembly, representatives from across Africa are discussing challenges facing their respective countries and working collectively to find peaceful solutions.
