Bulawayo Mayor Senator David Coltart has announced plans by the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) to name one of the city’s streets after Phathisa Nyathi, a cherished figure in Bulawayo, during Nyathi’s memorial ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Senator Coltart highlighted the importance of preserving Nyathi’s legacy for future generations.

“In a small way, the City wishes to respect Nyathi’s contribution to the community. We as the City Council sat down this morning and discussed how best we can remember him. We all agreed on our intentions in naming a significant street after him, hoping to inspire the future generation,” said the mayor.

The street naming initiative aims to honor Nyathi’s contributions to Bulawayo’s development and inspire young people to strive for similar achievements. By recognizing his impact, the city hopes to encourage others to leave a meaningful legacy.

The mayor also acknowledged the tributes shared during the ceremony, noting that they reflect the profound legacy Nyathi has left behind.

“I believe that you have been listening to what people have been saying in their speeches this morning the achievements and the impacts that Nyathi has made throughout his entire life. It is essential that we celebrate his legacy; he was one of a kind who dedicated his life to uplifting the city,” Coltart added.

This tribute to Nyathi celebrates his life and ensures his memory will continue to inspire the community.
