23-Year-Old Man Jailed for Stealing R5k from In-Law’s House

A 23-year-old man from Beitbridge, Nigel Musona, has been sentenced to prison for breaking into his in-law’s home and stealing ZAR4900 on 23 October 2024.

According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPA), on 20 October 2024 the complainant had secured his house and left with his wife.

However, he received a call from a neighbor reporting a trespasser at his home, later identified as his brother-in-law, Nigel Musona. Upon returning, the complainant found the door forced open, the safe broken into, and R4900 missing.

A police report led to Musona’s arrest.

The Beitbridge Magistrates Court sentenced him to 24 months in prison, with 4 months suspended for 5 years and an additional 4 months suspended on condition of restitution. Musona will serve an effective 16 months in prison.
