The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) honoured its newly appointed chairperson, Comrade Cephas Ncube, with a surprise party in Bulawayo.

The celebration was organized by various ZNLWVA members, including the Deputy Secretary of Tourism in the Women’s League, Tholakele Moyo, as well as Central Committee members, National War Veterans executives, and provincial and district leaders. The event aimed to show support for the new chairperson.

Cde Ncube, who defeated notable contenders in the recent elections, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and support from his fellow veterans.

“Thank you for recognizing me. As liberation war veterans, I thank you. The work I have been given is not mine alone. It is of the people of Zimbabwe. Allow me to put it like that because when the late war veterans were fighting, they were not fighting alone. They were helped by the people of Zimbabwe. So, I thank you all,” said Ncube.

Ncube also thanked the performers present, stating that their work reminded him of the musicians who supported them during the liberation struggle.

“Allow me to thank the musicians that are here. During the liberation struggle, there were musicians and poets who kept our spirits high. I thank them. May this event go well as you have planned it. Let me say to the performers, there is more to come. We expect great things from you,” he added.
