The Meteorological Services Department, in partnership with the Department of Civil Protection, has advised that Zimbabwe will experience significant rainfall throughout the week.
In a national address, meteorologist Lenos Ncube explained that rain-bearing clouds from the East, which arrived on Sunday, are expected to bring widespread rainfall across the country.
“Rain-bearing clouds will bring a lot of rain to Matabeleland South, Masvingo, and Manicaland. On Wednesday, a lot of rain is expected in areas like the East and West of Mashonaland and Harare.
From Tuesday to Wednesday, parts of Manicaland, Masvingo, and Nkabazwe, over 50 millimeters of rain, are expected in a space of 24 hours. The whole country is expected to receive rainfall during these days,” stated Ncube.
The public has been advised to exercise caution during this period.
“You are advised not to hide beneath trees while lightning strikes. You are encouraged to stay indoors while it is raining. You are not to cross streams or rivers while they are flowing,” Ncube urged.
In regions expecting heavy rainfall, individuals are advised to avoid crossing flooded areas and to refrain from standing under trees during storms.
