Highlanders Head Coach Kelvin Kaindu has expressed immense pride in Lynoth Chikuwa’s remarkable 16-goal tally this season, including a rare league hat-trick.
In a press conference yesterday, Kaindu praised Chikuwa, also known as Sonje, for his outstanding contributions to the team. He expressed optimism about Chikuwa’s chances of winning the Premier Soccer League Golden Boot award.

“I think if there’s one thing we have achieved as a club, it’s seeing Lynoth score those 16 goals. If you look at our team’s performance this year and last year, the number of goals scored, I give credit to the team and Lynoth himself,” Kaindu said.
Kaindu believes Chikuwa could have netted even more goals, noting that modern football makes scoring 16 goals a significant achievement. He added, “With a bit of luck, Lynoth could have scored many more goals, and there’s still a game for him to consolidate his position as the leading scorer. He’s been outstanding, scoring crucial goals for us.”
Chikuwa is currently three goals behind Yadah FC’s Khama Billiat, setting up an exciting showdown in the season finale on Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium, where Highlanders will face Yadah FC.
While Kaindu declined to comment on rumors about the potential departure of key players Peter Muduhwa and Lynoth Chikuwa, he acknowledged the speculation. “There are always rumors, especially toward the end of the season. We can’t deny it, but until something official happens, we take it as speculation,” he said.
The race for the Golden Boot promises an exciting conclusion to the 2024 PSL season.
