Warriors awarded USD6 500 for AFCON qualification

President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has awarded each Warriors player a bonus of US$ 6 500 for qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Warriors secured their spot in the AFCON after registering 2 wins, 3 draws, and 1 loss in the Group J AFCON qualifiers, ultimately finishing second in the group with 9 points.
In his speeech, President Mnangagwa applauded the warriors for their hard work and encouraged them to keep waving the nation’s flag high in the football world.
“My government will continue to promote the development of sports and recreation in the country guided by the strategies and programs enshrined by the vision 2030 and as the second republic the prioritisation of the development of sports and recreation facilities is ongoing. The government has also set aside one million US dollars for the Warriors participation in the upcoming AFCON,” said President Mnangagwa.
”We hope that you will go there not to just represent yourselves, but all Zimbabweans who aspire to greatness. Play with courage, determination, and unity. I also urge the coaching staff to stay committed to our team’s values and continue to develop our players’ skills and discipline.” added Dr Mnangagwa.
The Warriors’ technical team and head coach also received the same amount, and the government has already allocated $US1 million towards the team’s preparation and participation in the AFCON next year.
