41-Year-Old Man in Court for Attempted Rape of Ex-Wife

Tatenda Nyathi, a 41-year-old Cowdray Park man, appeared in Bulawayo Magistrate court today facing charges of attempting to rape his ex-wife.

The court heard that on October 12, Nyathi allegedly entered his ex-wife’s bedroom and found her in her nightclothes. He reportedly tried to force himself on her without her consent.

The alleged attack was interrupted when someone knocked on the door, providing the victim with an opportunity to escape. She sought refuge at her brother’s house before reporting the matter to the police.

Nyathi is charged with attempted rape under Section 189 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. Meanwhile his case is still pending.
