A 28-year-old man from Themba Ndlovu Homestead in Mashala village, Shylock Zulu, has been jailed for six months after stealing a goat and attempting to sell its meat to the owner.

The incident happened on January 8, 2025, at the Mashala grazing area, where Zulu slaughtered a black and white he-goat belonging to Thabani Sibanda. Zulu then approached Sibanda’s homestead, offering the meat for USD $15, claiming it was from a bush buck.

Sibanda, however, grew suspicious that the meat was from his missing goat and reported the matter.

Zulu was convicted of stock theft by the Hwange Magistrate Court. He was sentenced to six months in prison, with three months suspended on condition he does not commit a similar offense within the next five years. The remaining three months were suspended on condition he restitutes Sibanda ZIG 1,057.
