Chief Dakamela to Host Third Imiklomelo KaDakamela

Chief Mbusi Bekithemba Dakamela of Nkayi, KoDakamela, is set to host the third edition of the Imiklomelo KaDakamela awards from 4 April to 5 April 2025.
Speaking to Skyz Metro FM reporters, Chief Dakamela said the awards are aimed at honoring individuals and institutions who make significant contributions to society while they are still alive. He emphasized the importance of celebrating their efforts instead of waiting until they have passed on.
“We only remember people when they are long gone or have passed on, so what inspired Imiklomelo KaDakamela is to celebrate and appreciate individuals who bring positive change in society because at times without appreciation people tend to lose motivation to continue working hard” said Chief Dakamela
“The event seeks to bring people together from all walks of life and to unite Isizwe SikaMthwakazi for example Umgubho Wenkosi UMzilikazi also helps to get people together and have a unity of purpose,” he stated.
The two-day event will feature an array of activities, including art, fashion, and food exhibitions, cultural performances, bush dinners, and engagements with businesses and institutions. According to Chief Dakamela, the event serves not only as a celebration but also as a platform for networking and fostering community partnerships.
“There will be cultural centered teachings, discussions on HIV/ AIDS, entertainment , fashion/food exhibitions, a bush dinner at the Shangane river Bank. We look forward to engagements and interactions between people and service providers like bussiness people, institutions, members from the arts fraternity, role models who will inspire and encourage those in attendance, cultural activities, speeches from different people, professors and also camping for those who will come on Friday, so people dhould bring their camping tents,” Chief Dakamela added.
Launched in 2022, Imiklomelo KaDakamela has become an annual celebration of excellence and community development. It recognizes individuals, philanthropists, volunteers, and businesses that go the extra mile for societal growth. Past recipients of the prestigious awards include the late historian and cultural icon Phathisa Nyathi, Professor Solwayo Ngwenya, and musician Albert Nyathi.
Chief Dakamela urged the public to support the event, emphasizing its role in uniting and inspiring communities.
