Vice President Hon. Col. (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi has called on youths to actively participate in shaping Zimbabwe’s future, emphasizing the importance of empowerment and inclusion in national development.

Speaking at the K.C.D. Mohadi Youth Sports Tournament in Phelandaba Stadium, Mohadi highlighted sports as a tool for fostering unity, peace, and social cohesion among young people.

“Sport is a very powerful tool for shaping the future of the youths and hence it needs to be taken seriously by everyone of us. Today’s event is a celebration of athletics, teamwork and an opportunity for our youths to showcase their skills.

I observed that today, was not just about sports but, the event went beyond to valuable lessons to the youths through exhibition of services and programmes by various organisations and the youths had an opportunity to interact and create synergies which are vital for their growth and camaraderie,” said VP Mohadi.

He urged government and private organizations to prioritize youth empowerment in their programs while encouraging youths to demand inclusion in community and national initiatives.

“I wish to encourage all organisations, both in government and private sector, to streamline youth empowerment in their programming. I encourage the creation of youth focal desks and appointment of youth focal persons in every organisation so that youth development becomes a reality, not just rhetoric talk,” he implored.

“As we strive to modernise our country, it is imperative that the youth play an active role in every aspect of nation development. The youths should stand up and demand to be included in national and community development programmes,” VP Mohadi added.

The annual tournament, which promotes unity through sports, drew young athletes from across the province competing in various disciplines.
