Warriors drawn into group of death

Zimbabwe has been drawn into a challenging Group B at the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which will be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025, to 18 January 2026.

The Warriors, who qualified as runners-up in Group J behind Cameroon, will be making their sixth appearance at the continental showpiece with their last appearance coming in 2021.

Michael Nees’ side faces a daunting task in Group B, where they will contend with African giants Egypt, along with fellow Southern African nations Angola and South Africa.

Warriors will face Egypt in the opening game of the tournament before they go on to face Angola and will conclude their group encounters with a clash against neighbors South Africa.

Meanwhile hosts, Morrocco were drawn into Group A alongside Mali, Comoros and Zambia. Champions Ivory Coast are in Group F where they will face Cameroon, Gabon and Mozambique. Last tournament’s runners up Nigeria are in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania.
