Bulawayo Dams Show Significant Improvement in Water Levels

Bulawayo’s dam levels have risen significantly following recent rains, with cumulative inflows increasing by 26.36% compared to last year.
According to a statement by the Bulawayo City Council, Insiza Mayfair Dam is at 56.29%, slightly down from 58.39% in 2024. Inyankuni Dam has dropped to 19.57% from 29.09%, while Lower Ncema stands at 26.18%, down from 27.37%. Umzingwane Dam, however, has surged to 48.72% from 4.18% last year.
Upper Ncema has also improved, reaching 54.06% from 17.09%, while Mtshabezi leads at 79.74%, up from 73.01%.
Total inflows stand at 109,298,786 m³, with Umzingwane and Insiza contributing 23,616,385 m³ and 38,700,693 m³, respectively. Overall, operational dams are now 49.69% full, up from 42.78%.
Authorities remain hopeful for further improvement, urging residents to continue conserving water.
