15 Years in jail for Raping 13-Year-Old Sister

A 30-year-old man from Bulawayo has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the rape of his 13-year-old sister.

According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the court heard that on the day of the assault, the man was left alone with the young victim at their family home in Mpopoma. He lured her into his bedroom under the guise of watching a movie on his cellphone. Once inside, he violently attacked her, strangling her and stripping her of her clothing. The victim was then covered with a blanket as he forcibly raped her.

Following the assault, a report was made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), which led to the swift arrest of the perpetrator. He pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea to guilty after DNA evidence was presented during the trial.
