British-based Bulawayo artist Valerie Menyiwe Sibanda, popularly known as Valee Music, has released the music video for her latest single “Uthandolunje”, featuring South African artist Aubrey Qwana. The video pays homage to Africa’s rich musical heritage through its visuals and sound.
Speaking to Skyz Metro FM, Valee Music said the song reflects the essence of pure and old-school love, the kind that is not defined by material wealth but by sincerity and emotional connection.
“What inspired me to write ‘Uthandolunje’ was a reflection on that old-school type of love, and the music we grew up listening to, like Ringo Madlingozi and Oliver Mtukuzi – that ‘into yami ngeyakho’ kind of love,” Valee Music explained, using the isiNdebele phrase meaning “what’s mine is yours.” “It was important for me to tell this story of love because we now live in a culture where things have shifted, and there’s this constant question of ‘what do you bring to the table?'”
She continued, “I yearned for that deeper meaning of love, where it doesn’t always come in a golden package, but sometimes it’s humble, a homegrown love.”
Valee music has released hit music which includes ‘sondela’, ‘ watora moyo’ , ‘Ngicabanga ngawe’ , ‘mali’ and on Uthandolunje it was produced by Alie Keys and Directed by Director Mac .
