The government is working to finalize outstanding payments owed to farmers, according to the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Hon. Jenfan Muswere.
Addressing journalists during a post-Cabinet media briefing, Minister Muswere revealed that resources will be allocated to the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) to ensure timely payments for grain deliveries expected this season.
He said the Ministries of Finance and Economic Development, and Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development have prioritized clearing the debts and are collaborating to expedite the process.
A framework has already been established to guarantee prompt payments for all grain delivered to the GMB.
The move is part of the government’s broader efforts to support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity by ensuring timely compensation. Minister Muswere expressed confidence that the collaboration between the two ministries will lead to the successful settlement of all outstanding obligations.
