Cricket Ekhaya-Ekasi to Honour Singo with Dinner and Festival

Grassroots organisation Cricket Ekhaya-Ekasi will host a dinner and cricket festival in Bulawayo on 18 April 2026 to honour Nicholas N. Singo for his long-standing contribution to cricket development in Matabeleland.
The event will bring together players, coaches, school heads and Zimbabwe Cricket officials who have worked with Singo through the outreach programme, which promotes access to cricket in underserved communities.
Singo, widely regarded as the “godfather of black cricket” in Zimbabwe, is a co-founder of Emakhandeni Cricket Club, established to expand opportunities for players from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Cricket Ekhaya-Ekasi director of cricket affairs and operations, Dr Dumisani Mankunzini, said that, “the initiative has reached more than 86 schools across districts including Nkayi, Tsholotsho, Binga, Filabusi and Ntabazinduna, as well as schools in Bulawayo”.
The programme operates in partnership with Zimbabwe Cricket and is supported by corporate sponsors providing equipment and resources.Minister of Sports, Arts and Recreation , Permanent Secretary of Sports and Deputy Chief Secretary in the Presidents Office are expected to attend.
