Government is strengthening its drive to build a digital economy, with officials highlighting artificial intelligence as a key driver of global competitiveness and national development.

Speaking at the Zimbabwe Digital Economy Conference in Bulawayo recently, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Raj Modi said Zimbabweans are active participants in the global economy and must embrace digital technologies.

He said artificial intelligence is no longer a technology of the future but the defining technology of today, adding that the government of Zimbabwe, through the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, has been deliberate in advancing digital transformation.

The Deputy Minister urged delegates to make the most of the conference, saying it is expected to produce outcomes that support Vision 2030.
