The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) has intensified its campaign against gender-based violence with a nationwide Solidarity Walk and Roadshow, aimed at raising awareness about all forms of abuse, including digital violence.

Speaking to SkyzMetro FM after the event yesterday, ZGC Public Relations Manager Joseph Munda said this year’s campaign aims to raise awareness, promote wellness, and strengthen public engagement, while reinforcing the Commission’s core mandate to protect vulnerable groups.

Munda noted that online abuse has become a call for concern, with women facing abuse that limits their freedom of expression and discouraging them from participating in digital spaces.

He further urged media players to play a crucial role in shaping public attitudes and spreading messages that challenge harmful behaviours.

Munda concluded by stressing that the fight against gender-based violence must continue every day of the year, not only during commemorative periods.
