With just over a week to go before the Miss Cowdray Pageant, organisers say preparations are gaining momentum, even as funding challenges continue to test plans for the community-driven event.
The pageant is scheduled for the 7th of February and organisers describe the process as intense but encouraging. Speaking to SkyzMetro FM, co-director Mayibongwe Mthunzi said support from individuals within the community has helped ease the workload as the countdown continues.
Mthunzi, who is working alongside co-director Gladwin Macharaga and founder Mongile Moyo, said organisers are planning a roadshow on the 3rd of February at Cowdray Park to promote the pageant and engage residents. He noted, however, that limited financial resources remain the biggest challenge facing the event.
Meanwhile, the 12 finalists are undergoing intensive training focused on runway walking and stage presence. Rehearsals have been taking place at Prestige High School over the past three weekends, with Mthunzi saying the aim is to build confidence and ensure contestants are well prepared for the main event.
As preparations enter the final stretch, organisers are now focusing on securing a suitable venue, distributing tickets, and finalising other key logistical arrangements ahead of the Miss Cowdray Pageant.
