The 2026 Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League season begins this Saturday, with reigning champions Herentals Queens opening their title defence against Harare City Queens at Callies Stadium.

Herentals Queens, who lifted last season’s title with 69 points, are aiming for a fifth consecutive championship and enter the campaign as early favourites. However, Harare City Queens will be looking to improve after finishing in the lower half of the table in 2025.

The new season features a 16-team lineup, including several debutants expected to add fresh competition. CAPS United Royals face former champions Black Rhinos Queens at Stanchart Sports Club, while newcomers Rise of Hope Academy take on Correctional Queens.

Elsewhere, Rufaro Starlets host Mpopoma Sports Academy, Chapungu Queens meet Ngezi Platinum Queens, and Faith Drive Academy play Cranborne Royals Queens. In Kwekwe, Kwekwe Queens face Chegutu Community Queens.

The season start was delayed due to licensing requirements, but officials say all is now set for kick-off, with expectations of a highly competitive campaign.
