The African Development Bank (AfDB) says Africa’s economy is projected to grow by 4.3 percent in 2026, rising to 4.5 percent in 2027, according to the African Economic Outlook 2026 launched at the Bank’s Annual Meetings in the Republic of Congo.

The report says 12 of the world’s 20 fastest-growing economies are expected to be in Africa, while inflation across the continent is projected to decline to 9.9 percent.

Delegates at the meeting called for stronger financial systems, increased domestic resource mobilisation and sustainable investment to protect African economies from global shocks.

Discussions also focused on regional integration, climate financing and infrastructure development under Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The AfDB Annual Meetings end on Friday.
