Mtize flee market burnt to ashes

Mtize Flea Market, a bustling hub of business for micro business owners in Bulawayo, was last night consumed in flames.

The fire is said to have rapidly spread, engulfing the market within minutes destroying goods worth thousands of dollars in the process.

Speaking in an interview with Skyz Metro FM, Vendors Association Executive Director Mr Michael Ndiweni said the unfortunate incident has left many business owners who operated from Mtize destraught as measures to attain insurnce for the market were still a work in a progress

He added that many relied on the market as their primary source of income. Hence the loss of their goods, equipment, and infrastructure is devastating.

In an interview Loveson Mkhuse one of the Mtize business owners said the current plan is to clean up their work space and continue with business as usual.

He highlighted that that the market was their only means of survival hence they have to make plabs to bounce back as soon as they could.

Another business owner who chose anonimity said they had no idea as to what started the fire.

Highlighting that they were only allerted by people who witnessed the incident and also learnt upon arrival that the flee market secity guard had no phone on him
