President Emerson Dambudzo Munangagwa yesterday appointed Justice Loice Matanda Moyo as Prosecutor General, effective immediately.

The president made the appointment in accordance to Section 259 subsection 3 of the Constitution.

Justice Matanda Moyo has previously served as a magistrate and worked as a state advisor in the Zimbabwe Defense Forces’ State Council, specializing in criminal matters.

Her contributions as a prosecutor in the high and supreme courts further solidified her reputation in the field.

She has been serving as the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission since May 2019.

Justice Matanda Moyo is the first female to hold this position and this earmarks a milestone in achieving gender equality in the leadership stratum.
