The World Health Organization (WHO) has sounded the alarm on the escalating Monkeypox outbreak, recently convening an emergency meeting to mobilize a unified global response.

With cases spreading rapidly across multiple countries, the WHO has extended its standing recommendation for Mpox by 12 months, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

The meeting brought together leading scientists, epidemiologists, and public health experts to strategize effective countermeasures against the virus. Key areas of focus included accelerating the development of vaccines and treatments, enhancing public awareness and education, and fortifying healthcare infrastructure.

The WHO Secretariat presented a comprehensive overview of ongoing efforts to bolster readiness and response interventions in affected countries.

The organization is working closely with state parties to share knowledge, coordinate actions, and provide critical support to combat the outbreak.
