The Bulawayo City Council has extended the contract of Town Clerk Christopher Dube by one year, ensuring continued stability in the city’s administration.
The extension, which took effect on the 1st of October 2024, was approved by the Local Government Board following the expiration of Dube’s previous term on the 30th of September.
The move comes as the city prepares to initiate the recruitment process for Dube’s eventual successor. The extension will provide sufficient time for the council to manage a smooth transition in leadership, ensuring that the next town clerk can assume office without disrupting ongoing projects or administrative functions.
In a statement the authority emphasized the importance of this proactive approach to succession planning, reflecting a commitment to maintaining stability in the city’s governance while preparing for a new phase of leadership.
