Kwantuthu Comedy Festival has announced a new partnership with Mr. Sinkwa for this year’s event, aligning its efforts with breast cancer awareness initiatives.

Hubforty Entertainment Private Business Corporation, the festival’s organizer, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, which will see Mr. Sinkwa actively involved in supporting cancer awareness campaigns through the Mrs. Sinkwa brand.

As part of the initiative, the public is encouraged to purchase bread Mrs.Sinkwa with a portion of proceeds going to cancer patients and the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

Festival director Dumisani Ndlovu, popularly known as Maforty, emphasized the importance of this partnership during breast cancer awareness month.

“The partnership is basically based on breast cancer awareness campaign, we will provide platform for them to propell the message ‘Early detection serves lives’ and as a platform for them to sell their products and a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe and cancer patients”, said Mpofu.

He also addressed concerns about the cancellation of the stand-up comedy night, providing further details in a recent Skyz Metro FM interview.

“The board found itself in a very tricky situation and that’s something that we cannot elaborate further to decide that this year we can do without stand up comedy.

Stand-up comedy will make its way back next year and we are already making preparations to make that happen,” he added.

The festival will run from 24-26 October, featuring 10 high schools, including Dominican Convent, Mandwandwe High School, and Girls College St. Columbus, showcasing student films. This year’s theme is “Engage, Educate, Entertain.”
