The Global Association for Equalization and Development, a non-governmental organization based in Bulawayo, is dedicated to empowering youth with essential life skills to help them generate income and navigate the economic challenges currently faced by many young people in the country.

During a class orientation for its November cohort, the Global Association for Equalisation and Development Provincial Chairman Mr. Brilliant Sithole, emphasized the organization’s mission to empower the youth.

“We mainly focus on helping those who have been disadvantaged by social issues of life for example those who never got a chance to further their education but still want to get life skills training” said Sithole.

He also highlighted the various trainings offered by the organization, which include sign language, catering, graphic design, welding, detergent making, nursing aid, and hairdressing, among other short courses that last for one month.

A student who has benefited from the youth empowerment classes, Thandeka Ncube, shared her experiences, highlighting the importance of dedication and hard work for young individuals.

“When l first came here l did not know how to do hairdressing, l could only comb my hair but as I am speaking right now, l now have my own clients just within two weeks of training.

“In our department we were taught that dedication and commitment to your course promotes you as an individual. One thing l liked about my course is that it promotes self employment” said Thandeka Ncube

Another student, Roselyn Nyama, who is about to embark on the program, expressed her excitement and expectations.

“I am so happy to be a part of this organization because from here l will be equipped with baking and catering skills which will help me career wise,” said Roselyn Nyama

The Global Association for Equalization and Development is committed to assisting disadvantaged members of society by providing training in life skills to enable them to start their own business ventures and achieve economic stability. Even after completing their courses, participants have access to start-up capital and machinery
