Mawabeni Community Unites Through Soccer

The Mawabeni community is set to host its inaugural soccer tournament at Mawabeni Grounds on December 22, 2024, with the event aimed at promoting unity and camaraderie among residents through the unifying power of sports.

The one-day tournament will see local teams Stars FC, Unity Village, and Mawabeni FC compete alongside Ambassadors FC from Bulawayo. Adding star power to the event, Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe will attend as the guest of honor.

Speaking ahead of the event, tournament coordinator Nkosie Emmanuel Moyo underscored the tournament’s primary goal of fostering harmony within the community. The presence of former football players is also expected to elevate the event’s appeal, providing inspiration to budding athletes.

As the first edition of the Mawabeni Community Soccer Tournament, organizers are optimistic about establishing it as an annual tradition. Residents are encouraged to attend and show their support for this initiative, which aims to build bridges across communities through the spirit of the game.
