Police in Matabeleland North are investigating the deaths of two brothers from Nyamandlovu, Lupane, who died following a violent altercation reportedly sparked by a dispute over a funeral parlour pamphlet.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the incident occurred on 6 June 2026 after one of the brothers was given a funeral parlour pamphlet containing information on how to join the funeral service.
An argument reportedly broke out when one brother accused the other of intending to join Satanism.
Preliminary investigations indicate that during the confrontation, one of the brothers allegedly assaulted the other, striking him several times on the head with a log. The injured man later sought refuge at a friend’s home, where he spent the night.
Police said the victim was found dead the following day. On the same date, the other brother was also discovered dead under a tree, with bruises observed all over his body. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
They urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
